CODE OF CONDUCT

INTRODUCTION

The NYNNE label is grounded in the democratic Scandinavian values of timeless design, sustainable production, and long-lasting quality mixed with bold silhouettes. We believe in creating unique but timeless fashion that can stay in your wardrobe for a very long time.

At NYNNE we are committed to ensure that our company as well as our suppliers operates in accordance with the requirements stated in our Code of Conduct in order to work towards globally recognized principles for sustainable development and have a positive impact on social, environmental and economic development.

We work with the Code of Conduct as a tool to continue to develop our principles, which is constantly being reviewed and updated. This is a work in progress and we are always happy to receive input on how we can improve on this part.

Any supplier of the brand must ensure that they are compliant with NYNNE’s Code of Conduct and are following domestic laws and regulations. We require a signed copy of our code of conduct in full below before any collaboration can start.

If you have any questions or suggestions for improvement please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best Regards,
TEAM NYNNE

MATERIALS

We are aware that any material we work with will always have an impact on the environment. However we are always doing our utmost to source the market for materials that have a high amount of certified fibers and/or suppliers that are certified in sustainable practices. We are continuing to stay updated with new innovations that enter the market and we try to constantly push our collaborators to constantly improve.  We still have a lot of work to do on this part but we are excited to be part of a positive change in the industry.

NYNNE commits to social and environmental responsibility and we are proud to say that our materials are sourced, manufactured and stocked in our warehouse in Europe. This makes it easy for us to work closely with our suppliers and to ensure that the code of conduct as well as domestic laws and regulations are followed.

We develop all our pieces in our Copenhagen Atelier to make sure we minimize any waste and that we work responsibly throughout the full process. By completing the full process in Copenhagen we also minimize the sending of samples back and forth between our atelier and the factories.

By creating all styles in-house we also make sure the fit and sizing is always up to our standard. We have a diverse team with different sizes so we have the opportunity to fit each style on different figures to make sure our garments fit as many different types of people as possible. In both our sampling and production we work with deadstock material. This is typically leftover material from mills who work with bigger brands/corporations that are not using up all the fabric that was produced from them. By using this we can help reduce waste and take care of what has already been produced.

If there are any unused fabrics from previous seasons we try to rework/dye the material to make sure it can get a new life and does not end up unused. We use a limited amount of materials each season and we are always following the official EU requirements. We are committed to sourcing quality materials that have as low impact on the environment as possible that are of highest quality for longevity. For a young brand it can be challenging to reach the minimums to access sustainable qualities. We believe it is a work in progress and each season we are getting a step closer to a fully sustainable sourcing.

We are working with suppliers that have the following certifications:
- IVN BEST
- GOTS
- FSC
- FAIR FOR LIFE
- REACH REGULATION

WOOL
We do not accept any mulesing practices. We require all our suppliers to be able to prove that all wool we use is Mulesing-Free.

Mulesing-Free Practices is a more compassionate and ethical alternative which means that the animal has not undergone inhumane and painful processes to remove the wool. By ensuring the wool you buy is Mulesing-Free you actively support animal welfare while it also encourages responsible animal farming and ethical production.

LEATHER
We only work with leather that is a certified by-product from the meat industry. We only use leather tanned with chrome-free practices.

NYNNE disagrees with the use of exotic skins and will not source or use any exotic materials in our products.

CHEMICALS
We are committed to the safety of the environment and all people across our business. We are working closely with all our suppliers to make sure that all our garments are complying  with the European REACH directive.

REACH is a regulation of the European Union, adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, while enhancing the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry. It also promotes alternative methods for the hazard assessment of substances in order to reduce the number of tests on animals.

DESIGN & PRODUCTION

We produce with small family-owned factories in Europe and mainly Italy, The United Kingdom, Portugal and Bulgaria that all work under fair working conditions regulated by the EU. We have a close collaboration to make sure we don’t compromise on the design and craftsmanship. We want to keep designing clothes for different body types making the products inclusive and relevant for a wider audience.

Sustainability is something we try to implement in every part of our business, from the making of collections, production and material choices. We design with longevity in mind. We want our pieces to be bold yet timeless so it can stay in your wardrobe for a long time. Our iconic Diana dress is representative of our way of designing. We believe our pieces can be versatile, our Diana dress can be worn both for a wedding and in the office, the power lies in the styling. This is our way of encouraging our customers to buy less but better.

All Nynne samples are developed in our Copenhagen Studio, our styles are initially created with deadstock fabrics. This is something we also use for certain styles in production. We also offer our end-consumer the possibility to pre-order styles to a better price from our coming season. This is to ensure that we don’t produce any overstock, with our customers' help it’s easier for us to estimate the right amount to produce. Through seasonal feedback and close collaboration with our customers and factories we try to optimize our production and only produce the amount we believe we can sell. We do not buy bigger quantities to get cheaper production costs. This is not always easy for a small brand that is being pushed to reach high minimums to avoid extra charges. We do not support that way of working and we take great pride in choosing a more sustainable approach to our production.

RE-WORKING
Unsold items and old samples are always being implemented in the design process for the new season. We try to rework the collections with any leftover material and give it new life to never overbuy any materials. We design for longevity both in terms of quality and for the environment, which for us means to take care of materials that already exist.
